My friend Natasha Ghoneim went to Cairo this summer, as she does most summers. But this time she went with the goal of finding some of the untold stories of the revolution. As Egypt’s revolution made clear, human rights are not something guaranteed to anyone, not just in the Middle East but in many places in the world.
Work Horses in Egypt
So what about the animal rights in a world with limited human rights?
Arabs don’t have a lot of indoor pets, but outdoors, animals remain their friends and often their livelihood, especially horses. At a place thousands of tourists go every year. This is one of Natasha’s stories, which resulted in an Australia animal relief organization stepping in to help.

In Egypt, men and animals have a common denonimator. Both of them are not guaranted freedom because their rights to live and security are always violated. However, what is most puzzling is the fact that the violation of human rights have not been given action by the international human rights advocate and if not for a horse, the human rights violation in Egypt have not been brought to the proper organizations. Because of the ” Work Horse” story, the Australian aninal relief organizations steps for help to emancipate the poor horse from slavery of their abusive masters. If there is an animal relief organization that wanted to help the plight of the poor animals, when is the time that human relief organization steps in to lessen or if not to eliminate absolutely the violation agains human atroccities?

Yes, Sara, a lot more people seem to get worked over animal rights than human rights. But I think that is because they haven’t been exposed to human suffering where they live but they might have pets at home, so they can relate to animal abuse more.

The post if nicely done, and cut to the point, however,i believe there are people, nations actually suffering from starving, people everyday die because of starvation, take Somalia as example, it suffers from starvation since forever, where are the human rights in this case ?

People in Egypt are fighting for their rights, so I was not surprised to know that animal rights has never been a priority for the government, If the government don’t provide the people who are the structure of this country, its clear that they wont give a look to the animals right.

If the government don’t provide the people who are the structure of the country what they need and want, it is clear that they won’t give a look to the animal rights. It would be very odd if they take care of animals and forget about human. However, the bright side is that the Australia animal relief organization moving to help.

Yes, people first, animals second. But some people feel so strongly about animals that they can’t help but want to support them, even during human crisis. That’s okay–what’s important is that they are helping out the world in the best way they know how, rather than sitting at home just watching TV.
