I traveled more continents this summer than I have in a long time, and it was nice to have spent some of it with The Golden Harvest, which traveled even farther.
It was probably the highlight of the film’s career to play to a full house at the Smithsonian at the Asian American Art Museum. Thank you, @Tom Vick and @Samirah AlKassim
Upcoming online at ArteEast (Sept 28-Oct 1) in their special series There is Salt and Bread Between Us and in person (not me, but the film) in Geneva and Zurich (September 28-29)—details forthcoming!
I had the chance to be present at the Palestine Film Festival Amsterdam as the guest of honor—thank you, @Nihal Rabbani. Love that city always and great to see the film play at one of its landmark theatres, The Rialto.
It was extra special to spend time with the Honduran art community at a screening at @TercerCine. Thank you, @Laura Bermúdez for being such a gracious host. More on Honduras’ truly surprising film history when my article on its first filmmaker comes out in Aramco World later this year. Thank you, Darwin Yaney Mendoza for opening that world to me.
A place I didn’t go, but the film did: There were also some a screening at Vikalp@Prithavi (Bombay), which gave me the privilege to get to know the curator, the legendary, unfiltered documentarian Anand Patwardhan. The film also played as part of Cinema of Joy, a traveling festival produced by Anasy Productions in Dijbouti, Comoros Islands, and Mauritania. I would have loved to talk with those audiences. Super sad that due to unforeseen circumstances, the film lost its chance to play at Climate of Cinema @Busan Museum of Contemporary Art at the invitation of @Soyoung Kim.
